• Chiropractic is a healthcare profession focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, with a particular emphasis on the spine. It involves manual therapies such as spinal manipulation, joint and soft-tissue manipulation, joint mobilisation, alongside exercises and health and lifestyle advice. The title of ‘chiropractor’ is protected by law and chiropractors are regulated by statute. The General Chiropractic Council (GCC) is the UK-wide statutory body established by Parliament to regulate the chiropractic profession. They check that all chiropractors are properly qualified and fit to practise. There are five representative bodies for chiropractors in the UK: British Chiropractic Association (BCA); Royal College of Chiropractors (RCC); United Chiropractic Association (UCA); Scottish Chiropractic Association (SCA); McTimoney Chiropractic Association (MCA).

  • We treat every demographic and tailor our session to the individual and their goals. There is no upper age limit or lower age limit to have chiropractic care! The youngest patients we have seen have been three days and the oldest 98 years old.

  • A chiropractic degree involves extensive training in anatomy, physiology and biomechanics, with particular emphasis on the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. Chiropractors train full-time for five years where we learn medical diagnosis, radiography and radiology (apart from chiropractic skills), which means that we can diagnose your problem. We are primary care practitioners specialising in nerve, muscle and joint problems. We will refer you to another healthcare professional if necessary.

  • Yes, when performed by a licensed chiropractor, chiropractic adjustments are safe. We use evidence-based techniques tailored to each patient’s needs.

Most patients experience relief after an adjustment, though some may feel mild soreness, similar to post-exercise discomfort. This usually resolves within 24–48 hours.

  • To maintain the benefits of chiropractic care, it’s important to follow your chiropractor’s recommendations, which may include regular visits, exercises, stretching, and posture improvement. Additionally, maintaining a healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition, hydration, and stress management can support long-term spinal health.

  • The number of sessions depends on your condition, goals, and response to treatment. Some patients feel better after one session, while others require a series of treatments for lasting results.

  • Can I exercise before or after a chiropractic adjustment?
It’s generally recommended to exercise after your chiropractic adjustment. Working out before your adjustment can potentially worsen your spinal condition, while exercising afterward allows your body to benefit from the adjustment without exacerbating any issues.

How long should I wait to exercise after a chiropractic adjustment?
The ideal time to wait before working out depends on how you feel post-adjustment. Many chiropractors suggest waiting at least 30 minutes to an hour, but if your adjustment is in the morning or early afternoon, an evening workout should be fine. For late afternoon or evening adjustments, it’s often best to wait until the next day.

Is it okay to weight train after a chiropractic adjustment?
Weight training can be done after an adjustment, but it’s important to listen to your body. Stick to the general time guidelines and pay attention to any discomfort during your workout. If your pain level exceeds a 2 or 3 out of 10, it’s best to stop and rest.

What should I do if I feel discomfort after my adjustment?
If you feel discomfort during any exercise post-adjustment, it’s important to stop and assess your pain level. Low-intensity activities like walking or stretching are generally safe, but heavy or strenuous exercises may need to be avoided until you feel fully recovered. Always prioritize listening to your body’s cues.
